Friday 1st October
We arrived early in the morning at the village where we would be staying this week. It was full of very neatly built brick cottages with thatched roofs. They all had different coloured doors as well. We drove along the main street until we reached a shed type building where the coach pulled up. Ben stood up and told us that we were free to roam around the village but we mustn't tell anybody why we were there. If anyone asked we were too tell them that we were on holiday on a coach tour and that was it. Apparently we wouldn't look too different as there were lots of Elves that lived here and we would fit right in. Mum and Dad were getting excited. I wasn't quiet sure why at first. They dragged me off the coach and Johnny smiled at Ben as we got off, which made him even more nervous than he normally was around Johnny after the nose sucking incident. Ben said we had all been booked into the top hotel in town called The Elton. 5 stars apparently whatever that meant, and we were to meet there at 6pm tonight. Mum and Dad just smiled at each other as we stepped off the coach and started to walk along the road with Tommy's Mum and Dad following close behind, Where are we going?
Saturday 2nd October
All was revealed after what seemed like the longest walk ever. Mum has a cousin she hasn't seen in years so we would be staying with them. Dad and Tommy's Dad were like a couple of kids when they found out she owned the only pub in town!. It was called the Elf and Arms, strange name I know but they were even stranger people. First off there was Cousin Tracey, Mums Cousin, she had a huge head with bright red curly hair and a very friendly smile. Then there was her Husband Jason, all red cheeks and smiles as well, a little shorter than Dad and a little fatter as well. They were friendly enough and made us all feel welcome. They showed us around the pub and where we would be staying and said that whilst we were there the drinks were free. Dad nearly fell over, as did Tommy's Dad at the sound of that. Mum gave them both a look that said she wanted them to behave but they pretended not too see it. They are worse than us sometimes. They told us they had laid on a special meal for us tonight and all their friends were coming to meet the family from England. This could be an interesting evening.
Sunday 3rd October
Well that went well NOT!!. Mums not talking to Dad, which to be fair probably suits him as he hasn't got out of bed yet, something about a bad head. It must be bad as even Johnny wont go near him and he cant wait to crawl all over Dad in the morning. Tommy's Mum isn't talking to his Dad either. Well it was there own fault, but well it was funny, well I thought so. The meal was great, Irish Stew which was very filling and we all ate it up as Mum, Cousin Tracey and Tommy's Mum talked about the different things they did as kids. The Dads and Cousin Tracey's husband Jason started having a few drinks. Then they started having a few more until the three of them decided to put on a show for everyone that arrived at the pub to say hello. Dad sat on a chair and Tommy's Dad sat on his lap, whilst cousin Jason played the piano. Dad then pretend that Tommy's dad was a puppet and put his hand up his shirt. As the music played they then pretended to sing along as Dad tried not to move his lips and Tommy's Dad sang along. All was going well until Tommy's Dad decided to drink another pint when doing it and fell of off Dad's lap onto the floor. This made Dad laugh so much that he fell of his chair and the pair of them then rolled around the floor laughing at each other. Cousin Jason laughed so hard that he then managed to drop the Piano lid on his fingers with a loud bang. To say the Mums weren't impressed would be an under statement.
Monday 4th October
With Dad still recovering and Mum not speaking too him me and Tommy were allowed out into the village to have a walk around and explore things. We stopped at a few shops as we walked along the street and then we saw a sign. "Get your pot of gold maps here". Next to it was a small man called a leprechaun. Me and Tommy looked at each other and walked over to him. He was wearing a bright green suit and a bright green hat position to the left on his head. He was sitting on a chair next to the sign with a bucket full of rolled up pieces of paper next to him. "Hi there boys" he said cheerfully "Do you want one of my maps?" Me and Tommy looked at each for a minute and then walked over. "What are they for?" I asked. He smiled at me and took one of the rolled up piece's of paper and placed it on his lap. "Do you know the legend of the rainbow boys?" We shook our heads slowly "Well" he continued "They say at the end of every rainbow there is a pot of gold with a Leprechaun sitting on top of it, all you have to do is find it" he waved the maps at us as he spoke. "These are the maps we sell to the humans on where they can find the gold at the end of the rainbow, ah look here comes another one now, yes Sir that will be 5 Euros and guaranteed pot of gold at the end of it" he winked at me as he said it. M and Tommy stood there dumbstruck. "Oh by the way, my names Jack" he said standing up with his hand outstretched. Me and Tommy shook it it and introduced ourselves. "Fancy some lunch?" he asked. We nodded in return. "Good" he said "Then follow me"
Tuesday 5th October
Jack was a funny guy. He seemed to know everyone and everyone seemed to know him. He took us to a burger bar for lunch and paid, which was nice of him. He told us about what it was like growing up in Ireland and how he had to make a living selling the maps. He was a little older than us but said he had an elder brother as well. He asked us questions about us and we told him about the coach and where we were going. Tommy told him about Grace and Laura and how they wouldn't leave us alone which made Jack laugh even more. All too soon the day had gone and we had to get back to the Pub before our Mum's started too miss us. As we were going Jack asked us if we would come and see him tomorrow which we were only too happy to do, so we agreed to meet him in the village square at the same time. We waved goodbye and headed off home Jack seemed a really nice bloke, cant wait until tomorrow.
Wednesday 6th October
Me and Tommy got up early this morning and headed off into town as quick as we could. Well after we had done the jobs that Mum wanted me to do. Why do I have to tidy my room? I don't make the mess, its Johnny, who I might add has been very quiet lately. I think hes missing Ben's nose. He has a look at people that come into see us and he doesn't seem interested in their noses. Don't worry mate you'll see Ben soon enough. Although I'm not so sure he's that keen on seeing you that quickly. Reece has been doing a great job entertaining him though they really seem to have hit it off. Grace and Laura wanted to know where we were going today but we didn't tell them we don't want girls following us around. Michael has been helping Ben with the coach. Apparently its all top secret and he cant say anything about it. Well all I can say is it had better be worth it. We rushed into town and saw Jack again. He was doing a roaring trade in selling the maps to the humans. They couldn't get enough of them. We went for burgers again and talked for ages. He has some really funny stories does Jack, Ill tell you some of them tomorrow.
Thursday 7th October
We went too meet Jack this morning but he wasn't there. We waited ages for him but he never showed up. I'm sure he agreed to meet us. The day went by and we had to say goodbye to Cousin Tracey and her Husband Jason. Mum got all tearful and started to cry, Dad got all tearful because he was saying goodbye to free beer, Johnny got all excited because he was seeing Ben's nose again. Me, I was a little sad because I hadn't seen Jack yet but excited as we were starting on the next leg off the journey. I helped Dad load all the luggage back onto the coach when someone called my name. I turned and saw Jack hiding behind the back of the coach looking worried. I grabbed Tommy and we walked over to meet him. "Hi Jack we came to see you today, where were you?" I asked. "You have to listen to I haven't got much time" he looked really worried as he spoke and me and Tommy didn't say a word. "There is something bad going to happen and you have to stop it" he was beginning to scare me now and I looked again at Tommy who was now as worried as I was. "Jack, little brother, that's where you are!" A large leprechaun was standing behind Jack a nasty look on his face. He was older than Jack and wore blue jeans and a red t-shirt. His hair was dark and cut short. "Jack who are these people?" he asked looking at us without a hint of a friendliness in his face. "They are friends of mine" he stammered " Well then I guess they are coming with us as well then" and with that there appeared four other leprechauns who grabbed us and pinned our arms to our sides so we couldn't move. " Now then" said Jacks elder brother " Don't go screaming or anything stupid will you, we just want to have a little word with you, understand?" Me and Tommy nodded quietly. "Good then come with us" and with that they lifted us up and carried us off in the opposite direction of the coach. Were in trouble now!!!!.
