Sammy The Elf The Final Part 24th December 2010

Today was the big day and when I say big I mean BIG. Its Christmas Eve and after all the kissing and cuddling and more kissing and cuddling from Mum last night its time to get ready. It was great to see them all again, Laura and Grace where there as well. Frank and Ellie made sure we had a huge meal, shepherds pie, fish and chips, roast dinner, followed by ice cream and jelly. The table was massive. We all tucked into it and then everyone sat around as we told them about what had happened to us on the way here.

Mum shed a few more tears, Dad and Grandad kept patting us on the back and saying how well we had done. After a very long night we were carried to our beds sound asleep. I dreamt happy dreams for the first time in a long time. I dreamed of all the toys I was going to make and all the fun I was going to have. I dreamt that I wouldn't let Frank down and would make him proud of me after all he had done for me, Tommy and Jack. I couldn't wait to start my new job, but there was one more surprise waiting for me so I drifted of into a deep sleep.

I got dressed very quickly in the morning and ran downstairs shouting my goodbyes as I went. I raced out the door and found a huge crowd of Elf's and Leprechauns standing by the big Christmas tree in the middle of the village. As I pushed my way through the crowd I could see it getting closer and closer. It was the biggest sledge I had ever seen. Deep green in colour, with golden swirls around the edges, at the back were red sacks full of the most beautiful decorated presents I had ever seen. There were hundreds and thousands of them, all stacked neatly in the huge sacks. Sitting in the seat at the front was Father Christmas all ready with a huge grin on his face and holding the reins that led to the reindeer at the front. They were all there Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet,Cupid, Donner and at the front with his big red nose Rudolph.

"Come on Sammy get in then" Father Christmas called.
I hesitated for a second, just a second, then I ran as fast as I could and leaped up next to him.
"Are you ready?" He smiled
I nodded excitedly
"Lets go then, we have a busy night in front of us" He laughed out loud and the reindeer started to gallop, then they broke into a sprint and we started to take of into the air. We were flying. Me and Father Christmas. If you are very good and are very quiet, you may just see us tonight, if you do though make sure you wave.

Love Sammy xx

The End

I just wanted to say thank you, thank you for reading, thank you for your kind comments. It may not have been the best thing you have ever read but I have so enjoyed writing this. My kids have loved it and I know that many friends and family have enjoyed it to. It was written for kids by a big kid, ME. I have found it challenging and enjoyable at the same time, but at no stage did I want to not finish it. Ive shed a little tear writing this last part, its the first thing Ive every finished. I will be re-writing Sammy The Elf in the New Year into a book which I hope I will get published. Sammy The Elf was all about believing in yourself when the odds are stacked against you, to believe in yourself and never give up. TO cherish the friends we make and the friends we have. Mostly though it was about bringing a little magic to the people that matter most to me, all the children I know, so Laura,Grace,Michael,Reece, daddy did this for you. Billy, Jamie, Liam, Jacob Shelby, Callum,George and Holly, uncle Tony did this for you as well. I hope you liked it. Lorraine, Kerry, Suzy, Emma, Kelly and Linda my biggest adult fans thank you for your input and encouragement.

Merry Christmas Everyone

Love from Me to You

Sammy The Elf 22nd December

There he was standing there filling the door frame almost. His big black boots all shinny and polished, his red trousers disappeared underneath the white furry trim of his coat. The trim ran around the bottom of the coat. His belly sticking out but held tightly in place by a huge black belt and a gold buckle done up at the front. His white gloved hands placed on his hips that led up to his straight shoulders. His red jacket, such a deep clear red wrapped around his body. His big white beard covered his face apart from the piercing blue eyes that shone with anger. His head had a red hat on it and the white trim mingled with his white hair that protruded around the bottom of it. He was here at last Father Christmas was finally here.

We let out a yell when we saw him, he had come to rescue us, Father Christmas was here after all. He smiled at us quickly and then placed a white gloved finger to his lips telling us to be quiet. We fell silent at once. He walked through the door and stood in front of the desk, watching Carl all the time as he did so. Carl tried to grab the book but he wasn't quick enough and Father Christmas picked it up and slammed it shut with a loud snap. Carl fell back into the chair the look of defeat finally crossing his face. Then it all started to go a bit wrong to be honest. Jack leaped up and ran at Father Christmas, he ran straight into him but Father Christmas didn't move and Jack fell back onto the floor tears streaming down his face as he did so. Me and Tommy looked at him a little surprised  by what he had done. He was crying uncontrollably now, huge deep sobs as if he had been holding it all in for many years. Father Christmas bent down on one knee and lifted Jacks head up slightly. He then began to wipe away some tears that were falling from Jacks eyes.

"Jack,I have something to tell you and you must listen to me please" His voice was soft and deep
Jack just stared straight back into his face and didn't say a word, there appeared to be a hatefulness in his eyes but he nodded that he would listen.
"Good" Father Christmas said wiping another tear away from Jacks face. "Jack I never sent you away, you and Peter were babies I would never do that, that's not who I am. The story that you have been told is lies Jack, its been fed into you so many times by someone who hates me that you have started to believe it haven't you?"
"So whats the truth then? Did I somehow get lost with my brother and you didn't come and find me? Is that what happened?" The tears were flowing now quickly down Jacks face.
"Peter come in please" Father Christmas called towards the door.
We all turned and faced the door as Peter walked through it. He ran towards his brother and hugged him tightly. They sat there for a few moments before Peter stood up and held his hand out for Jack to take and stand up with him.
"You need to hear what he has to say Jack, its time you knew the truth about what really happened all those years ago. Will you listen Jack? For me?"
Jack nodded.
"Thank you Peter, now then you weren't left out there Jack you were taken by Carl, weren't they Carl?" Father Christmas looked straight at him and all he did was shrug his shoulders. He looked truly defeated now.
"Why?" Jack yelled at him " You told me we were banished and left to do die here, you told me that my parents didn't want me or Peter anymore and we believed you, we believed everything you told us." He began to cry even harder now. All I wanted to do was hug my friend and tell him it was okay, that at least he had found out the truth finally but I knew this wasn't the time, he needed to get all the anger out of his system first.
"I think its time we told everyone the truth don't you Carl?" Father Christmas turned and looked at Carl who just shrugged his shoulders once again.

"Okay boys let me tell you a story about a young, clever and very talented leprechaun called Carl. He was the most talented creative leprechaun Id ever seen. The toys he could make and design were beyond anything I had ever seen before and all of us were very impressed by what he could do. I promoted him time and again until one day he joined Devel's father as Chief toy maker. He had a beautiful wife Sally who adored him but it wasn't enough for Carl. He always wanted more, he wanted to make money from the toys he made but that wasn't the way we did things around here and as long as I am here it will never be that way. The toys we make are made with love and they are made for Children who are good enough to have them. That is what working here is all about. We do it because we love it, no over reason, but Carl, well that was never going to be enough for him, he wanted money and fame, he didn't know when enough was enough. So he tried to destroy everything that we had built here over the last few centuries and I had to stop him." Father Christmas looked at us as he said the last bit and we felt a little uneasy at that, we didn't see Father Christmas as a vindictive person, we wondered what we were going to hear next. He took a deep breath and continued.

"Sally came to me one night and told me that Carl was going to try and take over the factory. She cried for many hours and had agonised over what she was telling me. This was the man she loved after all, yet he had changed beyond anything she could recognise. She told me she wanted to leave, I tried to persuade her otherwise but she said she couldn't stay any longer and she left to work in Greenland where she still lives to this day. I watched Carl a little more closely and over the next few years I watched as he made contacts with toy manufacturer's around the world and hoped that he would one day see sense and stop but he didn't. He then started to turn the leprechauns against the Elf's. He told them lies about what was going on and some of them believed him. They started to form a little group. Then they decided to start a war amongst the Elf's, this was all started by Carl, he thought by doing this he would be able to take control here but he was wrong." Father Christmas started to shake his head slowly as if the memory was to painful for him to recall. I went towards him and touched his arm gently, he turned and smiled at me, he placed his hand on top of mine and smiled at me.
"Sammy, you've been through so much and yet even now you are thinking of others" He smiled once again and turned back towards Jack.

"I knew that the only way I could stop Carl was to banish all of the leprechauns form here. Except I didn't, not all of them anyway. You see the ones that followed Carl I did, it broke my heart to do it but I had to keep the others safe, the ones that didn't follow Carl went to live with Sally in Greenland until we knew that Carl wasn't coming back. They then returned one by one to take their rightful places alongside the Elf's. When I heard of what Carl planned Sally was kind enough to take them all back, they didn't want to go but they knew they had to. I pretended to go on holiday as well, so as Carl could make the plans that would lead to his downfall. I'm only sad that a brave Penguin lost his life for Carl's greed. Jack the leprechauns that returned today include your parents as well, who have missed you both since the day he took you away and never stopped loving you"
We all turned and looked at Jack
"My parents are alive? but he told us they were dead." The tears stopped and a big grin began to spread across his face.
"Its true Jack they are alive" Peter smiled
"Where are they?" Jack said getting more and more excited
"Downstairs waiting for us, would you like to see them?"
"You try and stop me" He ran out the door closely followed by Peter. My friend who had helped me when I needed it, the person who had placed all his fears and nerves about coming back here was happy at last and that made me smile.

"What happens to me now?" Carl asked meekly from behind the desk.
"Carl you have done some terrible things and for this you must be punished. You will go to jail and serve your sentence with the Penguins, when that is finished you can come back here and work for me once again"
"What? After all that he has done to us and you, you would allow him back into this place" I couldn't believe what I was hearing
"Yes Sammy I would because that is what I do. People make mistakes, sometimes they do terrible things but we have to try and forgive them for what they do and help them if they will let us. Carl wont be designing toys though, no I have a better job for a man who has such determination and nimble hands. Carl will spend the rest of his time here peeling potato's" He smiled once again as he said it and I burst out laughing. I knew what a horrible job THAT was.
"King Penguin he is ready to go now" Father Christmas called out to the hallway.
The King of the Penguins marched in with two of his men and I watched as he handcuffed Carl and led him out of the room. He didn't say a single word as he left the room. Then it was just me, Tommy, Devel and Father Christmas left. I watched as he turned to Devel and spoke to him next.

"Devel your father would be so disappointed with you, as am I. Your greed and hunger got the better of you. Your punishment will be as follows. You will wash and scrub the dishes for the next 15 years. Only then will you be allowed to go anywhere near the toy factory floor. You will however never design another toy here. Do you understand?"
Devel nodded his head.
"Very well on your way then" and Devel left the room taking off his hat and jumper as he went and placing them gently on the table. The ultimate humiliation for the Chief Elf, once so powerful now a simple dishwasher, the fall from grace had been quick and painful. He deserved nothing less.

"Now then, what am I going to do with you two then? Right pair of trouble makers you two aren't you" He laughed as he said it but we weren't quite sure how to answer now.
"Sammy and Tommy, you know who I really am don't you? Look at my eyes boys look deep into my eyes, we have met before haven't we?"
We both stared at each other then at Father Christmas and looked into his eyes. It took a moment but then all of a sudden it dawned on us.
"Frank" We yelled
"The one and only" Came the reply
"How?What?Why?"We yelled at once
"Well I had to make sure my new Chief toy designers got here okay didn't I?" He laughed
"Huh?"We shouted again
"Boys I have a couple of vacancies at the top here and I thought you two would be good at it, well what do you say?" He was shaking with laughter now
"Yes of course" We replied
"Frank?" I asked " I have a questioned though, how did you know where to find us?"
"Ah the inquisitive mind strikes again. Well I knew Carl was up to something and when I heard what he intended to do I decided to keep an eye on you. Then when you escaped I made sure that me and Elsie were there to keep you safe. Sammy and Tommy you have done me proud these last few months, I never thought that you two would be so resourceful and determined. I knew you had talent but for ones so young you have earned your place here and I want you to stay for as long as you want to. Okay?"
"Of course" We replied together
"Now then, I believe your parents are here waiting for you shall we go and see them?"
"They are here, but I though they weren't coming till Christmas Eve?" Tommy asked
"No Tommy they are waiting for you both downstairs, shall we go boys?"
"Yes please" Tommy said and darted out of the room.
I stayed there for a few moments there was something else I needed to ask
"What is it Sammy?" Father Christmas had stopped at the doorway when he noticed I hadn't followed Tommy straight out of the door.
"What about Kai, Lis and Vie, where are they now?" I asked
"Come with me Sammy I have one more surprise to show you" He smiled once again and placed his arm around my shoulder. After everything I had just found out, he had one more surprise for me, what on earth could it be?

Sammy The Elf 21st December

We froze on the spot. Surely this couldn't be happening again. Not here, not now. Carl again. This time I would finish this. Enough is enough. I spun round and stared straight at him. His face was purple with rage and he gripped the desk with both hands. I couldn't show him I was frightened, I had too stand my ground. After everything we had been through I wasn't going too let him get away from us now.
"So Carl" I started "This was the plan all along was it?"
He looked at me a little taken aback if I'm honest. He wasn't expecting me too be so forward with him, after all he assumed he had the upper hand.
"You do know that the Elf's know that there are leprechauns downstairs and are in the process of rounding them up don't you?" I stared at him trying to look as menacing as possible.
"Oh Sammy, after all this time you still don't get it do you?" He started too chuckle and then he burst into a loud and long laugh, throwing his head back as he did so.
He's finally lost it I thought too myself. He has finally cracked.
"Hes not here is he, you silly little boy" He continued too laugh as he said it
"Whos not here?" I asked still trying too keep my cool
"Father Christmas, It doesn't matter what the Elf's do, without him here they are leaderless. They wont know what to do. Oh they may chase the leprechauns around for a bit but when they catch them what will they do with them? They don't have a clue, and neither do you" He pointed his finger at me as he said the last bit and the anger had returned too his face.
I looked at Jack and Tommy and they looked straight back at me. I was sure James would know what to do wouldn't he? After all it was his and Rang's idea in the first place. Surly they must have though it through to the end.
"Ah the first seeds of doubt are beginning too creep in aren't they. You have no idea what it means to me to be back in this place. This is where I belong and its time you knew the full story about your precious Father Christmas and what he did to me and all the leprechauns that worked here with us. But more importantly the fact that he let Peter and Jack leave here as babies too die in the snow outside because he decided they needed too be punished for something they didn't even do. What nothing to say boys? Well I'm not surprised after all you DON'T KNOW HIM LIKE I DID. Sit down and Ill tell you it all. After all we have all the time in the world now don't we seeing as he has left his precious Elf's once again." He laughed loudly this time and pointed too the floor where we all sat down. Not through choice but because we couldn't think of anything else to do right now and we needed too buy time.

He walked from behind the desk and sat on the front of it looking down on us like a father would to his children who he was about too tell a story to. He looked very different from the first time I had seen him . His hair was a lot greyer now and there were a lot more lines on his face. It was obvious the last few months had taken a real toll on him. Whatever he was about too tell us had obviously eaten him up over a long period of time. The thing was, even though we had been fighting him from almost the first day we still didn't know the REASON why he wanted to get back at Father Christmas. Could there be a reason for the way Carl had become? Could there be a reason to HATE Father Christmas? The only way we would find out would be to listen to what he had to say no matter how painful some of it would be.

"I came here many, many years ago when I was a young leprechaun. The Elf's and the leprechaun's worked together happily here. It was a true pace of wonder and fun. Father Christmas was kind and generous too us all. I worked hard and over time I moved around the factory until I became one of the Chief designers here. Me and Devel's father here created some of the most popular presents ever made. The children loved them and we all took great pride in our work. I was happy and married to a wonderful girl called Sally. We dreamed of having our own family and growing old here." He paused for a second and I swear I saw a tear well up in his eye. He wiped his eye and then he continued. "Father Christmas offered me the job of Grand Designer, a position no leprechaun had ever held before. This would mean that I would have full control of every design of toy that would be made here. Some of the Elf's were jealous of this and started too work against me. I told Father Christmas this but he didn't believe me, he said I was being paranoid but I knew I wasn't. I became engrossed in my work making sure that every toy I designed was better than the others that had been made before. I worked day and night. Then one day Sally came too see me and said she was worried about me. That I had not been home for 4 days. I shouted at her, I didn't mean to, it was the last time I ever saw her." He stopped and walked around the desk again and sat heavily into the chair.

We all looked at each other. It sounded true enough so far, didn't it?
"Sammy, remember this is Carl we are listening too" Tommy whispered quietly
I nodded perhaps my friend was more aware than I was that I was being taken in a little too much by what I was hearing. I decided toolisten a little more before I said anything. Carl looked at us more composed now and continued once again
"She was gone when I finally got home. No note nothing, I went to Father Christmas for help but he just told me to get on with my work so I did. I didn't dare argue with him after all he was Father Christmas wasn't he how could I argue with him?. Over the next few years I became so engrossed in my work that I forgot everything else. The toys were being requested more and more until one day there was an accident on the conveyor belt. One of the Elf's got hurt and he blamed a leprechaun for it. No one knows why but all of a sudden they couldn't work with each other. Fights were breaking out all over the place. Father Christmas asked me to help and I did try but it was getting worse. He made a choice and called a meeting with me as I was the unofficial leader of the leprechauns and the head of the Elf's Devels father. He sat us down in this very office and told me that all leprechaun's had to leave the village that night. He was no longer prepared to have our kind work here. I was shocked by this and tried to reason with him but he wouldn't listen. He said his mind was made up. I asked him where we were supposed to go and he said he had arranged for us to live in Ireland, that he wasn't prepared to discuss it any further and that we were to leave immediately. Sadly I agreed with his wishes hoping that one day he would change his mind and that one day we could come back here. As I left the village I found Peter and his brother Jack wandering around outside. A pair of children that had been cast out into the ice and snow. I took them in and raised them like my own. Not that Jack here has ever thanked me for it have you Jack?"
Jack just stared at him and didn't say I word
"See how ungrateful he is? After all I have done for him? That's the thanks I get"
"So why are you back here now Carl? Why is Devel helping you? What is it that you actually want?" I had too get the answers too my questions. Enough was enough now.

He paused and smiled at me. This unnerved me a little as I wasn't sure what was going too happen next.
"Devel get the book for me please, lets show our little friend what this is all about shall we?" He beckoned Devel away from the door and towards a pile of books that were kept on the shelf's on the wall on the far side of the room. He reached down and pulled of a book in red Velvet and handed it to Carl. He held it tightly in his hands like it was something he didn't want to drop or let go. He ran his hands over it and placed it gently on the desk in front of him. We looked at each other and shrugged our shoulders we had no idea what this was.
"Sammy, do you know what this is?" He was almost dribbling now
"Nope not a clue, looks like a great big book to me" I was trying to show him that I wasn't that bothered
"Sammy your naivety is quite sweet really. This my boy is the one thing that Father Christmas cannot do without. What I have now means that I now control all of the toys that are sent to the children in the world. This Sammy is the book of names. Whenever a child requests something for Christmas it will appear next to their name in this book. Then the Elf's will make sure that they get it. Whenever a child is naughty though they lose one of the presents from the list. Now all I have to do is keep an eye on it and sell those toys to the toy shops and make lots and lots of money doing it" He laughed loudly again.
"Is that right Carl?" A deep voice came from behind me, I jumped up and turned round. I hadn't heard the door open as I was listening to what Carl was saying. By the look on his face he hadn't either because standing there in the door way was................................

Sammy The Elf 20th Deecember

The food was eaten very quickly by the Elf's. Empty plates started too pile up in the kitchen which was good to see, the only problem was that this meant I had to clean them all. I didn't mind though because if it worked my plan would start too form very quickly.

Id spent the rest of the afternoon washing up and trying too keep my head down. Id watched Ben and Peter having long conversations in the corner of the kitchen Peter seemed troubled by something and Ben was trying too talk him round. They were too far away from me to hear exactly what they were saying, but the feeling I got was that Peter was beginning to have second thoughts about being here and what Carl was up too. That could certainly be an interesting development in things if that was the case. An unexpected bonus.

James had met me from work and I had told him that I had put the powder in the food. He was pleased with that and had said he had noticed that a few of the Elf's had started too rub their eyes late on in the afternoon. He then said that it wouldn't properly take effect until the morning and that we had to be patient and bide our time but we would know when it was the right time. I didn't tell him about seeing Ben and Peter in the kitchen and them talking quietly in the corner. It seemed easier not to just yet until I was certain as to what was happening.

I awoke this morning with a little bit of dread and a little bit of excitement. Dread at the thought of going back into that kitchen and excitement at wondering whether our plan had worked. James met me outside and once again dressed in black I made my way towards the big steel door at the back of the back of the factory. The Chef was outside having a cup of tea when I arrived and nodded at me as I walked through the door. I looked around me and saw Elf's already hard at work. The Chef walked in behind me and made me jump a little when he tapped me on my shoulder.
"Sammy you did such a good job with those potato's yesterday you can do them all over again" He laughed a huge laugh as if this was some sort of joke.
I just nodded and walked back to the room I had been in yesterday, faced with another huge amount of potato's that needed peeling and then boiling. There wasn't anything else I could now though all I could was sit and wait and hopefully it would work.

Id been peeling potato's for about an hour when it started too happen. It was very quiet at first then a loud noise came through into the kitchen. I walked to the door of the room I was in and watched as a leprechaun came flying through the kitchen doors a look of sheer terror on his face. He ran straight up to the chef who at the time had his back turned too him, and starting pulling at his jacket. The Chef turned round with a look of real anger on his face, ready too let fly at whoever had the nerve too grab him from behind. It wasn't until he saw the look of pure terror on his face that he paused for a moment and gathered his thoughts. I watched all of this happening and it suddenly dawned on me what was goin on.
"They can see us" The leprechaun yelled
"What are you talking about?"the Chef said quietly
"The Elf's can see us they know we are there" There was a rising panic in his voice as he spoke
"That's impossible. We put the stuff in the food yesterday, I tasted it myself"
"Well they can see us and they are going nuts out there. Cant you do something?"
"Like what? I'm a chef for gods sake, this was Carl's idea and he assured me it would work. Have you seen him this morning?" The Chef was beginning too sound as worried as the leprechaun now
"Yes, he is in Devels office"
"Then what are you standing here for go and get him. NOW!!" The Chef yelled
"Yes, yes of course I will" He turned and then ran out of the kitchen as fast as he could.
This was it , this was my chance, if I timed it right I should be able to get into the office and release my friends. I crept out the kitchen and headed for door that led onto the factory floor. Chaos was ensuing in the kitchen as Elf's and Leprechauns, who could finally see each other, started too pelt each other with the food that had been prepared ready for lunch.

I walked onto the factory floor and watched for a few seconds as the Elf's, now not under the influence of the powder in their food were beginning to chase the leprechauns around the factory. The leprechauns were terrified and running for their lives. This had worked out better than I could have hoped. James saw me and came running over.
"It worked Sammy, you did it" He was smiling from ear too ear
"ts not over yet" I said "I have to go and rescue Tommy and Jack yet"
"Of course lad okay then good luck. I need to stay here and make sure none of the Elf's actually kill the leprechauns although putting a few through he present wrapping machine might not be a bad idea" He gave out another hearty laugh
I smiled and made my way to the stairs. I crept up them slowly as I got too the top the doors flung open and all of the Elf's from the workshops came rushing out. They nearly knocked me back down the stairs with their haste too get involved. Now I knew there was only perhaps Carl and Devel standing between me and my friends. I edged my way slowly along the corridor, trying not too make a sound as I got closer to the door. I could see that it was partially open. I stopped trying too hear if there was anyone in there. I couldn't hear a thing so I slowly opened the door. It was empty. Perhaps Carl had fled once again from his troubles. It wouldn't have been the first time would it?. I moved around the desk to where I had seen the button before. I felt under the desk and there it was. The little black button. I pushed it and watched as the wall started too rotate. When it was half open I squeezed through into a small corridor. It was dimly lit but not enough for me not to see where I was going. At the end of the corridor I could see a small door. I pushed it open and there they were. My friends, it had seemed like months since I had last seen them. Tommy jumped up straight away.
"Well you took your time didn't you" He said half joking
"Well if you didn't keep getting into trouble I wouldn't have too keep rescuing you would I?" I laughed
"Fair point I suppose" He smiled
" Come on Jack we need to go fella" I said picking him up from the floor
"Sammy I'm sorry, Its all my fault I should never have come"
"How did you work that out?" I said a little confused
"Peter saw me. I tried too tell him what Carl was up to and what we had been through but he wouldn't listen. He took me straight too Carl and locked me up in here" He kept his head low as he spoke
That would explain the conversation I had seen between Peter and Ben the day before. They must have been discussing Carl. I wonder if Jack had put some doubt into his brothers mind after all and that was why he seemed so troubled?
"Yeah then when I said hello too Ben the other day it didn't help matters" Tommy shrugged
"Huh? You said hello too him?" I asked shocked
"I didn't mean to it was one of those off the cuff moments. I was so happy to be here I didn't think about it until after I had done it. I'm not sure who was more shocked him or me?"
"Okay look we haven't got time for what was right and what was wrong. We need too get out of here now and stop Carl once and for all" I said grabbing the pair of them.
We made our way back along the corridor as quickly as we could. We squeezed back through the gap and started too walk towards the office door when all of a sudden it slammed shut. Devel was standing there blocking our way.
"Going somewhere boys?"
The voice came from behind us. I turned slowly knowing who's voice it was and there sitting at the desk was Carl. A look of utter rage on his face.

Sammy The Elf Sunday 19th December

When I woke this morning my uniform had been replaced by black dungaree's and a black jumper and hat. This was the kitchen uniform. I pulled it on quickly and headed for the door. James was waiting foe me outside.
"This isn't going too be much fun Sammy. Are you sure you are ready to do this?" He was worried about me I could see that
"Yes, Ive got to do it, its the only way" I replied nervously
"Okay then, lets get going" He started too walk towards the factory, only this time we didn't go through the main entrance as we had before. This time we went to a side entrance. There was a large steel door with a bell on the outside.
"This is it Sammy, no turning back now"
"I know what I have to do" I replied as confidently as I could
"Here take this" He handed me a small packet of powder. "You will have too put this into the food, its harmless, but it wont take effect properly until tomorrow and when it does you need to be ready okay?"
I nodded and took the packet putting into one of my pockets.
"Okay then" James said as he rang the bell.
The door opened and the largest Elf I have ever seen opened the door. He was huge. He was wearing chef whites and had a face like thunder. I was beginning too regret this a little bit.
"What?" He snarled
"I have a new helper here for you. He was caught stealing a toy yesterday from the conveyor belt and has been sent here to work until Christmas Eve when he will be expelled" James spoke with a real sense of authority. I was quite taken aback to be honest I hadn't seen this side of him before
"Oh so I get all the thief's and lairs, great another one" He didn't seem happy at all. "Okay take him and show him where the potato's are, I need them peeling and boiling before lunch" He didn't look at me once.
James walked past him and led me through the kitchen. There were lots of Elf's dressed like me who were trying too look busy, running around the kitchen carrying large trays off vegetables and meat. Others were standing by large counters cutting and chopping the things that they had been brought by the others. There were leprechauns in there as well quietly hanging about in corners making out they wasn't there. I knew they were though as I could see them. One of the Elf's looked me straight in the eye as he walked past. I could see that glazed look in his eyes as well. He didn't have a clue as too what was going on around him, he didn't even notice.

James led me too a large white room which had the biggest pile of potato's I had ever seen in my life. I stood there a little unsure how I was going to get all this done in time but I knew I had to. i would have too work harder than I had ever worked before.
"You going to be okay Sammy?" He asked as we both stood there looking at the huge mound of potato's
"Yes, Ill be fine" I replied trying too sound convincing
"Okay then Ill leave you to it. Make sure you put the powder in and remember it wont take effect until tomorrow okay?"
"Yes go it" I replied
He patted me on the shoulder and was gone. There I was all alone and with a mountain of work to do. There was only one thing for it and I picked up the peeling knife and made a start.

After I had been working for a few hours, an Elf came in with pots filled with water and placed them on the floor.
"You need too put the potato's in here when you've finished. Then you have to add this" He handed me a packet the same as the one that James had given me earlier.
"Whats that?" I asked
"Vitamin's" He replied " Make sure you add it the chef insists on it being used so dont forget"
I nodded and took it from him making sure I placed it in a different pocket from the one that James had given me earlier
"Well you'd better get going again" He said as he left the room.
This was the important bit, if my plan was going too work I had too get this part right. I carried on peeling the potato's for a while longer when I suddenly heard voices coming towards me. I recognised them straight away but I couldn't let them know that I had heard them, so I kept my head down and carried on.
"Is he here yet" Ben the tour guide said. Ah Ben the one that my little brother had been obsessed with sucking his nose.
"Yes he is up stairs with Devel. I don't know what they have too talk about, all he does is leave us here walking around this stinking kitchen all day" Peter said angrily.
So Peter, Jacks brother was here as well. This wasn't going to be easy. Carl, Ben , Peter and I guess Peters friends as well, plus who ever else they had managed too smuggle in with them as well.
"Peter, you know Carl has your best interests at heart, he has always been good to you hasn't he?"
"Has he? All I know is that when I was a kid me and my brother were found by him walking around outside this place and I only know that because he told me. How do I know whats true anymore? He had me kidnap my own brother and two young Elf's as well didn't he? I'm not sure anymore, I'm not so sure what I believe" There was a real anguish in his voice as he spoke. A softening that I hadn't heard before. Did he have doubts about Carl as well?
"Don't be so ungrateful and don't let him hear you say things like that. He has done a lot for you and your brother before he turned on us" The reply was short and angry
"My brother, huh, maybe he had the right idea after all"
"Well you can always join him if you wish? Or you can help Carl retain his rightful place here, a place that he once ruled and a place that he will once again rule with or without your help" They were starting too argue now.
"Enough" The voice was loud and clear. It was Carl.
"I'm sorry master I didn't see you there" Ben spoke first
"Obviously. Do you two not think this is difficult enough too pull off without you two arguing all the time? Well?"
"Sorry master, it wont happen again" Peter replied
"It had better not. Now we put our plan into operation fully on Tuesday. Is that understood?" Carl was calmer now as if his grand plan was starting too come together at last.
"Of course we shall be ready" Ben replied
"Good, good, now whats for lunch I'm a little peckish" The voices began too trail away as they walked down the corridor.

It looked like I had put our plan into place just in time. As I finished peeling the last of the potato's I placed them in the pots that were full of water. I then took out the packet that James had given me, making sure I had the right one, and emptied the contents into the pots. I watched as the powder started too disappear and mix in with the water and food. There wasn't a trace left. No wonder no one could tell the difference, it completely mixed in with what was in the pots.
"Are those done yet?" It was the elf that had bought them too me earlier
"Yes" I replied
"Did you add the vitamins?" He asked
"Yes, just like you told me to" I replied confidently
"Good then help me carry them to the kitchen" He picked up the first one and walked away.
I grabbed one as well and followed him as quickly as I could. I watched as he placed it onto the top of the large oven. There was enough space on the oven for all of the pots I had filled. Once we had collected them all and placed them onto the rings, the chef came over too us. He placed a spoon into one of the pots and tasted the water.
"Not bad" He said "They will taste great when they are cooked, now go and clean up and you can start on the dishes over there" He pointed too a large mountain of washing up. It was huge and I guessed would take me the rest of the day. I didn't mind though, my plan was working so far all I needed now was for the Elf's too eat the food. When they did I could then start on the next stage of my plan.

Sammy The Elf Saturday 18th December

Hi there it was time too try and put the plan into action. Would it work? Read on too find out. Love as always Sammy xx

After I left Rangs place yesterday I made my way back too the factory. No one had noticed I hadn't made the morning shift as James had covered for me. At the end of the shift he came over to me and we arranged too meet that night  as Rang had asked me to do. I went too his house and we came up with a plan that we would put into action today. It was risky but we didn't have a lot of choice, if this was going too work I had to make sure that I did exactly as he told me. I agreed and waited for the right moment before our plan sprung into action.

As I started work on the conveyor belt this morning I noticed that there was defiantly something not quite right with the people I was working with. I hadn't noticed it before as I had been too preoccupied with what had happened too Jack and Tommy. They all had a glazed look in their eyes, like they were in some sort of trance. That was the reason why they couldn't see what I saw, which was the whole factory over run with leprechauns. For every three Elf's there was a leprechaun. They moved around us, knowing that we couldn't see them, well apart from me and James anyway and they were pulling bits of off the toys, they weren't coming out of the workshops incomplete they were breaking them when they got the chance. That's why the toys were broken. It began too make sense now. Elf's were very careful in the way that they made things, they took care to make sure that every toy was perfect. This had got to be something to do with Carl and that Toys R Us deal. From what I knew Father Christmas only made enough toys to go around, but here since he had been gone they were making more than they needed and were going to sell them for profit. If the Elf's knew what they were doing they would be appalled, but of course they didn't have a clue, not while they continued too eat the food from the kitchen that had been drugged. It was time too put our plan into action.

I waited until James had started to walk up and down the aisle and when he was just about close enough I picked up a toy and put it into my dungarees, this was the only way it could work, and I had to do it right first time there were no second chances. James saw me and came running over shouting at the top of his voice, this was it.
"Sammy what do you think you are doing?" He yelled
"Nothing" I shrugged
"Did you just put a toy in your pocket?" He was really angry and the other Elf's stopped what they were doing and stared at me, a look of shock came across their faces as they all looked at me. I could feel their eyes burning through me, this wasn't going to be pleasant at all.
"No" I answered
"Don't lie to me! I saw you do it"
"I didn't" I could feel tears welling up in my eyes this was a little too real now
"Yes you did don't lie, Elf's don't lie Sammy. Come with me right now we are going to see Devel right away" He grabbed my arm and pulled me towards the staircase that led too the chief Elf's office.
I struggled a little to make it look convincing but I could see the other Elf's whispering as I was pulled away from them. As we reached the stairs James made me walk in front of him. He stomped up the stairs making as much noise as possible. As we reached the door at the top of the stairs he whispered in my ear.
"Sammy your doing brilliantly, now this is going to be the hard part, you have too keep this going lad"
I half nodded trying not to bring more focus on me than there already was.

As we walked along the corridor, past all the workshops that had been so busy the last time I had come this way, I noticed that all the Elf's had stopped working and were staring at me. If this didn't work I was going to be the most hated Elf ever. Then if it did work I would still be hated but I could out it right at a later date. Well that was the plan anyway. We reached Devel's door and James knocked loudly on it.
"Come in" Devel called from the other side of the closed door.
"Wait here a moment" James said as he entered the room.
He was gone for a few moments when the door opened again and James told me too come in. Devel was sitting on the other side of his desk a look of pure anger on his face. I had too get this right now, it all depended on me.
"Sit down boy" He said sternly
I did as I was told.
"Is it true? Do we have a thief amongst us?" He looked me straight in the eye
"I didn't mean to" I started too cry.
"Sammy how could you? You of all people? Why did you do it?" There was no kindness in his tone though
"I'm sorry I wont do it again" I sobbed
"That's not good enough for me" James said he was standing behind me I could feel his breath on my neck
"Well I'm sure we could let him off this once, couldn't we?" Devel knew the rules but he didn't seem too want to follow them.
"No we cant. Rules are rules and Devel you know what they are and they must be followed" James said sternly
Devel seemed to be thinking hard as creases appeared on his forehead. The last place I'm sure he wanted too send me was to the kitchens but that was the punishment and he knew it.
"Well?" Prompted James
"Yes you are right James, rules are rules and they cannot be broken". Devel stood up from his chair and leaned on his desk placing his hands face down on the smooth wooded top.
"Sammy, if an Elf ever tries too take a toy from the production line, they take a toy away from a child. Do you understand what that means?"
"Ill put it back" I pleaded
"No I'm sorry that wont do. By taking that toy you tried to stop a child getting a present for Christmas and that cannot be allowed too happen. Your punishment will be as follows" He stood up straight now placing his hands behind his back. "You will spend the rest of your time here in the kitchen peeling potato's and washing dishes. When Christmas Eve comes you will be expelled from here forever and be known as a common thief. You will return to the human world too live amongst them and you may never return here again. Is that clear?"
The tears fell freely from my eyes and I nodded my head
"Very well, James take him away from here for the rest of the day. He can stay at your house. Tomorrow take him to the kitchens where he will work for the rest of the time he is here"
"Yes Devel, you have done the right thing" James replied
"Very well that will be all" Devel walked around the desk and opened the door and waited for us too leave. I kept my head low as we walked out.

James walked me through the factory and I pretended too sob as we went, I could feel all the eyes on me once again. It wasn't a great feeling I can assure you. Once we were outside we moved quickly too James house and once inside I started too relax a little. James had a huge grin on his face. It had gone well.
"Sammy, well done lad, well done that went like a dream" He smiled broadly as he said it
"Yes it did go rather better than I expected" I smiled back
"He didn't want too send you in there did he? You could see it in his face. That is one conversation he wont want too have with Carl." He laughed loudly as he said it
I laughed as well, for the first time in a while and it felt good. We had caused a Carl a problem but one that he couldnt deal with for now as it would ruin his plans.
"Well the hard work starts tomorrow Sammy, its up to you now Ive done my part."
"Yes I know, oh by the way I know where the switch is for the secret room where Tommy and Jack are as well"
"Wow you are a smart one aren't you?. Where is it? I had a quick look but I couldn't see anything."
"Its by his chair on the corner of the desk. There is a small black button there. I guess you press that and it will open the door"
"Well how are we going too get in there again?" James asked
"Leave that to me" I smiled " I have another plan for that"

To be continued tomorrow.............

Sammy The Elf Friday 17th December

Well here we are then the daily updates as to what is happening. I hope you enjoy it. Love Sammy xx

I followed Rang into the house that was hidden in the snow mound. It was sparsely decorated with a table two chairs and a bed in the corner. A fire raged in the other corner of the room heating up what would have been a very cold house otherwise. Rang sat at the table and motioned for me to do the same. I sat down opposite him and waited for him too say something. He looked very tired and ran his hands over his face a few times before he started too speak.
"Sammy, what I am about too tell you will change everything you see around you. It will change the way you think of this place, but more importantly you will realise that it has too stop now. I'm sorry I tried not too bring you into this but when I saw you with Jack I knew that the time had come too end this once and for all" He lowered his head and took a deep breath.
"Jack and Tommy are being held captive, the people here are under some sort of spell. They don't seem too realise that Father Christmas isn't here. He has been gone for nearly 2 months now, which is very unlike him when he knows how much work we need to do too get everything ready. They have been putting things in the food for weeks now. We used to be able to get our meals at home but a little while ago Devel decided that we should eat two meals a day at the factory. It was explained to us that by doing this we would be able too work harder. At first we all agreed with it and did as we were told, after all Devel is the most trusted of the Elf's that live here and we all did as he said. However one day I got ill and couldn't go too work for a few days. I ate at home and it was only then that I began too see things that the others weren't seeing. I began too see Leprechauns moving in the shadows, were there hadn't been any here for many years. I stopped eating the food at the factory and advised others to do the same. They thought I was mad and didn't join me, they couldn't see what I saw and I began too realise why. The food they were being fed had a drug in it that made them see only what they were told too see. I hadn't eaten it and I could see the Leprechauns going up to Devel's room every day and then he came. The one that we had all been warned about. He showed up one day out of the blue. He passed through all of the Elf's as if he wasn't there and Devel greeted him like a long lost friend. It was only then that I realised we were in deep, deep trouble and I had to do something to stop it." He paused for a brief moment too make sure I was listening. That I was most defiantly was.
"Go on " I prompted
"The one who appeared was someone you have met a few times on your journey" before he could finish I shouted out the answer.
"Carl!, Carl is here? Now? We have too stop him" I jumped to my feet ready to take him on there and then
"Sammy calm down, remember what I told you, no one will believe you that he is here. Remember as well he has Tommy and Jack as hostages hidden in his office is a secret panel that leads to a room at the back of the factory. That's were they are at the moment. They are quite safe for now " He gestured that I sit down again and I did so reluctantly
"There is a way we can do this but it isn't going to be easy and we will need James help as well"
"James? Can you trust him?" I asked a little unsure
"Yes, he knows all about this. He hasn't eaten the food either as he has said he is allergic to it. They believed him because he has acted as if nothing has changed."
"Why has Carl got Tommy and Jack?"
"Carl knew that Jack would spot him or the other Leprechaun's straight away and alert you to what was going on so that's why he took him away. Tommy is different, he is using him as insurance, he thinks that you wont attempt anything if you know that Tommy may come too some harm."
"He seems to have thought of everything doesn't he?" I replied
"There is a way to stop this Sammy, but it is  going to be very difficult and it all hinges on you and James working together. Do you think you can do that?" He looked me straight in the eye as he said it.
"Of course I can what do you want me to do?" I asked urgently
"You need too get a job in the kitchen and stop the food being spiked. The Leprechaun's are in the kitchen but you must pretend that you don't see them and treat them like Elf's. Do you think you can do that?"
"Yes of course. But how does James come into this?" I asked
"He will be the one too get you in there. You need to go to him tonight and tell him you have seen me and I have told you everything. He will understand. You cant do anything tomorrow you must behave as if nothing has changed. We will put our plan into action on Sunday and then by Monday evening everything should start too take shape. Sammy this is the last chance we have and we cant fail at it. Do you understand?"
"Yes of course I do" I nodded
"Good Frank said we could trust you" There it was again Franks name, why did it keep popping up all the time. I had to ask the question it was now or never.
"Rang, who is Frank really? I mean he always seems to be helping me ever since I first got into trouble and everyone seems to know who he is apart from me!" The frustration was full in my voice
"Sammy not now, all in good time I promise all will be reveled" He got up from the table and walked towards the door.
"Its time to go Sammy" He held the door open waiting for me too leave
"What are you going to do? Will you be okay here?" I was worried about my new friend
"Ill be fine, help is on its way and now I must wait here for it too arrive" He smiled a gentle smile as if too reassure me.
"Okay then" I said walking through the door " I shall speak too James tonight and make sure we are ready for Sunday" I watched as he closed the door slowly behind me without saying another word.
One more battle lay ahead with Carl, one more time we would face each other, only this time I would make sure it ended, it ended for good.

Sammy The Elf Week 13

Hi There everyone and welcome back for the final week of my diary. As of Saturday there will be a Sammy The Elf every day as I try to work out whats going on and save Christmas. Thank you for following me for the past 13 weeks, I hope at the end you are not disappointed. So here we go then Week 13 of my diary and don't forget too check back Saturday through to Christmas Eve too make sure you see how it all ends. Love Sammy xx

Friday 10th December

Sorry I couldn't tell you all about what this place looks like but I was in shock. Imagine every film you have ever seen that shows where Father Christmas lives. Then add them all together and you might just get close enough. It is the most colourful, bright, warm place you have ever seen. It totally took my breath away. The biggest Christmas tree in the world stood in the middle of the village. Lights of every colour lit it up. The tinsel was gold and red and twinkled as the lights shone brightly above them. Around the bottom of the tree where hundreds and hundreds of perfectly wrapped presents all finished with a different colour ribbon and a bow tied neatly on top. The houses were small and made of wood and each one had a different colour door. In the windows you could see lights and decorations that shone out into the darkness of the night. The whole place was awash with colours, so much so it took our breathes away. We just stood there staring not saying a word with the biggest stupidest grins on our faces that you could imagine. We weren't sure how long we had stood there but eventually we decided that we had better walk further into the mass of colour and introduce ourselves. As we started too walk past the first house an Elf came running towards us, he looked a little out of breath and his cheeks were bright red.
"Who are you? Can I help?" He panted
"We are here to work with Father Christmas" I replied
"Are you from the coach party?" He asked a look of concern spreading across his face
"Yes, but we got separated a long time ago and we have had too make our own way here" I replied starting too worry that something bad had happened
"Ah very well, then you must come with me at once" He began too tug at my shirtsleeve
"Hey hold on a minute. Whats going on?" I asked worriedly
"Nothing for you too worry about at the moment. The Chief Elf will explain it all. Now come on please we must hurry time is of the essence" He gave my arm another mighty tug nearly pulling me over. I looked at Jack and Tommy and they both shrugged their shoulders as if to say what are you waiting for. Begrudgingly I started too follow the Elf towards the row of house at the back of the village. What on earth could be so important that it couldn't wait?

Saturday 11th December

The Elf lead us too a huge building that loomed out at us from behind the other houses in the village. I'm not sure how we didn't see it at first. Perhaps due to the large Christmas tree and all its lights we needed time for our eyes too adjust. He stopped and knocked on the door. A small flap opened and closed very quickly. Then a huge creaking sound came from the doors and they slowly began to open. Light flooded out from the gap in the door and we we followed the Elf inside. Elf's were all over the place, there was a huge conveyor belt in the middle of the room with a row of Elf's down each side busily picking things up and putting them down again. They were all wearing the same clothes, red jumpers and green dungarees, with red hats on their heads. They all seemed happy with what they were doing and from what I could see they were doing it well. Behind them was another group of elves this time with blue jumpers and hats with green dungaree's on. They were packing things into boxes and passing them through a hole in the wall. They were singing as they did it as well. The impression I was getting was that this was a fun place to work and it seemed that it would be everything that I had dreamed it would be. As we walked through the room we had entered we headed towards a staircase at the back of the room.
"Come on, come on, hurry up please we don't have a lot of time you know" The Elf was shouting over his shoulder as he started too climb the stairs
"Time for what?" I asked
"You'll see in a minute" He answered
We followed him as quickly as we could. When we got too the top of the stairs we turned left and walked along a corridor. As we walked I noticed that in the rooms around us Elf's were busily putting things together, they had yellow jumpers, yellow hats and green dungaree's. I was beginning too get this now. The colour of their clothes was like a uniform that told you where they worked and what their job was. I thought about this for a moment, trying to work out what part I wanted to work on. Did I want to do the assembly? Possibly seemed fun, the packing? Not to sure about that one, what about the conveyor belt part? It seemed you needed nimble hands for that and unfortunately I didn't  have the nimblest of hands I'm afraid.
"Here we are" He stopped by a Red door that had a name plate on it
Knock, Knock, Knock he tapped the door three times then waited for the answer too come
"Come in" the voice was deep and warm.
He opened the door and led us into the room. An old Elf was sitting behind the desk a huge smile on his face. He had on a Green hat and his jumper was a mixture of all the colours we had seen as was his trousers.
"Boys welcome, how are you all? I hear from some friends of mine you have had quite a journey getting here. Let me introduce myself I am James the Chief Elf and Father Christmas's Number 1 helper. Its a pleasure too meet you all at last." He walked around the large dark wooden desk and came towards us his hand outstretched.
"Yes we have" I replied shaking it
"Well your here now, I see you have met Erp my trusted helper" He said looking at the Elf who had met us on the streets of the village. So that was his name he had been in such a hurry too get us here that we hadn't even asked his name.
"Yes thank you, can I ask a question if that's okay?" I needed something answered straight away
"Oh let me guess, you want to know whats happened too your families on the coach correct?" He smiled as he said it which reassured me a little
"Yes" Me and Tommy said at the same time
He laughed loudly at us and placed his hands on both of our shoulders
"Boys don't worry they will be here by Christmas Eve. You see when the coach driver went missing we had too send a replacement, he got lost getting there, but its all okay now they will join you shortly. Now then you must be hungry? Ill arrange some food for you too eat and then off to bed with you. You start work in the morning" He looked at Erp and smiled
We looked at each other and smiled we were going too start work tomorrow and I couldn't wait.

Sunday 12th December

We woke up early the next morning too find a new set of clothes neatly folded up at the end of the bed. We had been taken to a large house where there were rows and rows of bunk beds. We were told we would stay here until our families arrived and then we would be given houses in the village if we worked hard enough. Me and Tommy had Red hats and jumpers with the green dungarees which meant we would be working on the conveyor belt. Jack however didn't have any clothes at the end of his bed. A little confused by this we got dressed quickly and made our way downstairs. When we got to the bottom of the stairs Erp was standing there waiting for us.
"Morning boys" He said cheerily
"Morning" I replied
He looked at Jack and shook his head.
"Jack you need too come with me first, Sammy and Tommy make your way to the conveyor belt and ask for an Elf called Devel he will show what you need to do.
"Wheres Jack going?" I asked
"Don't worry he needs to see James before he can start work. Leprechauns do different work to us but I can assure you he will be fine"
"Its okay Sammy, Ill be fine" Jack half smiled as he said it. I think he was trying too convince us as much as himself.
"Okay then we shall see you later" I said as he left the house with Erp.
"Well then" said Tommy "Shall we get going?"
I nodded in agreement but I was a little worried about Jack. After all he had been here before when he was much younger and was worried about returning.
We made our way to the big building and knocked on the door. The panel opened and closed as quickly as it had the day before and the door opened and we walked through it. We headed towards the conveyor belt looking for James. He wasn't too difficult too spot he stood out a mile to be honest. He was a large man with a huge smile on his face, older than the Elf's that were working on the built. He was walking up and down it making sure that the Elf's were doing things properly as he passed them by. Every now and then he would stop and say something too one of them and then he would carry on. Me and Tommy walked nervously towards him, but before we could say anything he stopped and looked right at us, an even bigger smile came across his face.
"Sammy and Tommy I presume?"
We nodded
"Good, nice too meet you boys. Now then lets show you what we are doing here and then you can have a go yourselves okay?"
Again we nodded
"Right then come up here to the line. what you boys are about to do is the most important part of the present making procedure. You need to make sure that there is nothing missing from any of the toys that go past you. Batteries wont be in there unfortunately, we decided long ago that if we were making the presents the least the parents could do would be to buy the batteries. Now then boys this is what you need to do" He lent over the conveyor belt and picked up a toy twisted it around in his hands then placed it back on the belt. He did this a second time but this time he placed the toy in a large bin that was next too him.
"Now then that first was one was perfect, no missing parts so its good to go. However the second one had a part missing so it goes in this bin here and we then fix it and send it off to a place called Toys R Us ready for their sales in the New Year. Unfortunately we don't have time to fix it now otherwise we would. How about you boys have a go?" He smiled and nudged us forward
We nervously took our places side by side at the conveyor belt and picked up a toy each. I had picked up a toy car and looked at it too make sure it was okay. When I decided it was I placed it back on the belt and waited for the next one too arrive. Tommy did the same thing as well.
"There you go a pair of naturals. Okay boys Ill leave you to it, enjoy yourselves that's the most important thing" and with that he walked away from us.
We worked hard that first day, picking up toys and making sure they were all correct. the ones that weren't we placed in the bin. The day flew past and at the end of the day when we had finished our work James came to see us.
"Well how was that then?" He asked smiling
"Great" I said
"Excellent I'm glad you enjoyed it. Listen why don't you boys go and get some food and then come to my house later on and you can tell me all about your journey here. Does that sound good?"
"That would be great" I replied
"Excellent well I live in the house closest to the Christmas Tree with the yellow door. Ill see you later then boys"
"Defiantly" Tommy replied as we watched him walk away whistling a tune too himself.
This was everything I had hoped it would be..........so far.

Monday 13th December

We had a great night at James house he seemed so friendly and told us stories of how long he had been here and ow he had worked his way up. He listened as we told him about our journey too get here, not saying a word but nodding every now and then. When we had finished he smiled and said he wished he had been there too meet this Frank and Ellie. He had a look in his eye though that I thought meant he knew them but I wasn't sure so didn't ask. He walked us back too our house and wished us goodnight. We fell into a deep sleep tired from the days events. Jack didn't come back too our room last night. When we asked they said he was off doing something special and that he wouldn't be back for a few days. Me and Tommy accepted this as we were sure nothing could go wrong now, not here, not in Father Christmas's village surely? How wrong we were. As we took our places at the conveyor built this morning a young Elf came up to me and started whispering. I couldn't make out what he was saying at first but could see from his face that something was bothering him. He asked me too meet him at lunchtime by the Christmas Tree as he had something I needed too know. He then asked me not too say anything to anyone else, Tommy was a little surprised by this but I told him not to worry and that I would be okay. At lunchtime I went to meet the Elf by the tree. I stood there waiting for a good 10 minutes before he arrived. I nearly left when I saw him running across the square towards me a look of panic on his face. He was being chased by some larger Elf's who were dressed in some sort of uniform. I hadn't seen them before but they looked like police officers, although I couldn't be sure. As he ran past he threw an envelope at my feet and I bent down and picked it up shoving it into my pocket as quickly as I could before anyone saw me. He ran past me and went straight on towards the edge of the village and kept going. The ones that were chasing him stopped at the edge and watched as he disappeared into the snow covered mounds in front of us. I decided that standing there perhaps wasn't the best option and made my way back inside as quickly as I could. I needed to find Tommy and tell him what I had seen as quickly as possible. Something wasn't right here, something was wrong very wrong. I needed too find out what it was as quickly as I could.

Tuesday 14th December

I couldn't find Tommy when I went back to the factory and he also didn't come to bed that night. What was going on? Why did all my friends keep disappearing? I didn't have to wait too long too find out. Erp was waiting for me outside the house as I left this morning. He had two of the policeman type people with him. I went too walk past him but he stopped me as I did so.
"Morning Sammy, can I have a moment of your time please?" He asked casually
"Yes of course whats the matter?" I replied as calmly as I could
"You were seen standing by the tree yesterday. I just wondered what you were doing there?"
"Oh nothing I decided to have a closer look at it that's all" I shrugged my shoulders
"Really, you wasn't waiting for anyone was you?"
"Who me? No why would I have been?"
"You were seen talking to Rang, do you know him well?"
That must have been the other Elf's name that wanted too meet me. I needed too play this cool
"Oh was that his name? He didn't say when he asked me how I was finding it on the conveyor belt yesterday" I smiled
"Are you sure that's all he said?" He leaned in closer so that his nose was almost touching mine, his breath smelt of fish was which wasn't very pleasant I must admit.
"Yes why? Was he supposed too have told me something else?" I asked
"No, not at all. Its just that he isn't here anymore so I wondered if he had said anything about where he was going?" He pulled away a little now, thank god for that I nearly passed out from the smell.
"No nothing" I shrugged again
"Very well then, if you see him though make sure you tell us straight away wont you"
"Of course" I smiled
"Good lad now of you go you don't want to be late do you?" He waved his hand int he direction of the factory.
"Nope not on my third day" I said and I started too walk quickly towards the factory. I could feel him watching me as I walked away. Something was going on here, something bad. I needed too find Rang and find out what it was. I pushed my hands deeper into my pockets and gripped the letter he had thrown at me the day before a little tighter.

Wednesday 15th December

I was very careful too keep my head down yesterday at the questioning that had gone on the day before I wanted too draw as little attention too myself as possible. There was still no sign of Jack or Tommy and I was beginning too worry. I had too find Rang but where did I start?. The answer to that question would come later today. After I had spent the morning doing my best to make sure that I didn't draw attention to myself. As I went too get my lunch I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned to see an Elf standing there who was wearing the Orange uniform. I hadn't seen him before but he seemed to want to talk to me quite urgently.
"Hello" I said
"Hi Sammy, look I have a message from Rang but I cant tell you it here, can I meet you by your house later tonight?" He seemed very nervous and I wasn't sure I could trust him but what did I have too loose?. My friends were disappearing and there was something wrong here. I hadn't seen Father Christmas and no one seemed too be mentioning him. They all seemed a little oblivious too what was going on around them. Or they knew what was going on and had decided too ignore it!. I had to do something too many children were waiting on these presents for me not to help as much as I could.
"Okay" I said nodding my head
"Good, Ill see you there at about 8pm if that's alright?"
I nodded again. He turned and walked away disappearing into the crowd of Elf's as if he hadn't been there at all. The afternoon passed so quickly and I made my way home as quickly as possible. I wolfed down my dinner and waited outside the house for the Elf too appear. I didn't have long to wait as he appeared around the side of the house.
"Sammy do you have the letter Rang gave you?" He asked
"Yes I do why?" I asked
"Its a map Sammy. Rang wants you too meet him there tomorrow. You mustn't tell anyone of what you are going to do its important that no one knows where you are going. Do you understand?"
"Yes, who are you though and how do I know that I'm not being set up?"
"Frank sends his best wishes" and with that he was gone again.
Frank? What did Frank have to do with all of this? Who was Frank? He kept appearing when I needed him most, always there to reassure me and comfort me. I had to find out who he really was once and for all. Not now though, firstly I had too find my friends and find out what was really going on and stop it if I could.

Thursday 16th December

I crept out of the house early in the morning before anyone else was awake. I slowly walked along the edge of the village until I reached the very last house. I pulled the map from my pocket and unfolded it. There was a line that was drawn on it that led away from the village. I followed it as best I could. I walked for what felt like hours but was probably only 30-40 minutes tops. As I followed the map I noticed that there were footprints in the snow. It was like someone had been this way already. I kept checking the map and the footsteps were going the same way. Was I walking into a trap? I wasn't sure but I kept going anyway. As I got to the end of the map I noticed a huge mound of snow that was tucked away behind a tree. I would have walked past it if I hadn't had the map I was sure of that. I slowly walked towards it not sure what too expect, nervous and unsure I was doing the right thing I slowly edged towards it. As I came around the front of it I noticed a door. Was this a house? In the middle of nowhere? Id seen stranger things that was for sure but I was still a little shocked. I knocked sharply on the door and tensed myself up not sure what to expect next. Slowly the door opened and there standing in the door way was Rang. He smiled at me, I smiled back sure that this was going to be okay now.
"Come in Sammy, I have a lot too tell you"

Sammy The Elf Week 12

Hi There Sammy here. Well we have started the final part of our journey, the place we were meant to be all those weeks ago. Father Christmas's village. Cant wait too get there now. Enjoy it Sammy xxx

Friday 3rd December

Today was a day of surprises and sad goodbyes. When we had had packed all of our stuff up we opened the door and there was a huge crowd of Penguins too meet us. The King and Queen stood at the front smiling at us as we stood there in shock with our mouths open.
"Sammy, Tommy, Jack, we just wanted too say goodbye and wish you well on the final leg of your journey" The King said as he walked towards us.
"Well thanks its been a pleasure meeting you all" I replied
"Yes it was a different experience I must admit" Jack half smiled as he said it, the hurt he felt over the past few weeks was still a little raw for him. He had been blamed for many things in his past and this was just another thing that had happened to cause him pain.
"Jack I understand your annoyance but believe me you will find the answers that you seek on the final leg of your journey" Frank emerged from the crowd and placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
"Its okay Ive been blamed for many things I didn't do down the years" He lowered his head as he spoke
"Believe me you will find the answers that you seek. I promise you that" Frank smiled as he said it. Was there something he knew that he wasn't telling us?
"Its time too go boys, only this time you will have too make the journey by foot, the Dragons cant fly that well in this cold weather and there is something I need them to do for me first. They would only hold you up"
Puzzled a little I looked at Frank but he had already turned and started too walk away from us.
"Now boys take this with you, this will lead you too your final destination" The Queen handed us a map. "All you need to find Father Christmas's village is on that map. Follow the route we have marked for you and you will be fine" She smiled sweetly as she said it and kissed each of us on the cheek.
"Boys, I cant thank you enough for what you have done but now its time for you to be on your way" The King shook all our hands as he walked up to each one of us.
"Well then Sammy, I suppose its time we left" Tommy and Jack had started too walk through the crowd.
I followed them slowly at first and turned around a few times as I saw the Penguins waving and smiling at us they grew smaller and smaller in the distance. I looked up to the sky and saw the Dragons flying above is. What was it with Frank? There was something about him that made me feel very calm whenever he was around. One day I may ask him who he and Elsie really were.

Saturday 4th December

We walked for what felt like hours. The landscape around us was pure white. It snowed a few times and was very cold. We unpacked the special stone only this time all we had to do was rub it in our hands too get the house too appear. In a flash as I placed it in the snow after it had begun too change colour the house appeared. "Sometimes" I thought to myself "There are some great benefit's too being an Elf, and this was one of them". I opened the door and walked inside closing it behind me, glad of the warmth.

Sunday 5th December

I didn't have a very good nights sleep last night. I kept having thoughts running through my mind about what we had been through and tried too make sense of it all. Everything we had been through, from the kidnapping, to the escape and meeting Frank, Elsie and the Dragons, through too the Penguin King and the trail it seemed that it was all supposed to be. It seemed like this was the journey we were supposed too take, it seemed like someone had planned this for us. I couldn't be sure though and rather than worry the others I decided too say nothing and keep these thoughts too myself.........for now.

Monday 6th December

According too the map we were now one day away from our destination. One day away form seeing our parents again. One day away from starting our new lives as Father Christmas's Elf's. Me and Tommy couldn't wait as we walked through the snow, it was all we talked about. Jack however was very quiet. When we stopped for a break he wandered off a little way away from us. Tommy gestured that I should go and talk to him. I must admit I was worried about him. I got up and walked towards him, he didn't turn around as I approached him he just kept staring straight ahead, deep in thought.
"Hey Jack, whats up?" I stood beside him but he didn't look at me
"Sammy the closer we get to Father Christmas's village the closer you get to your family, which is great for you and Tommy, but me, what do I have left after this is over? Do I go back to Ireland selling 'Gold at the end of the Rainbow maps' is that all Ive got left now?"
"Jack you can always stay with us" I said
"Really? Sammy you know that isn't possible, after all the things that happened when I was there last time, there is no way they would have me back. Sammy the closer we get to the end of this journey, the closer it gets to being the end for me. I cant go back there, Ill join you on the way there but as for me that will be the journeys end"
I looked at him and could see that there was no way I could persuade him too stay. Not yet anyway, but I was sure that we would need Jacks help one more time before this journey really did come to an end.

Tuesday 7th December

We stood there a little confused. According to the map this was supposed to be the gates to the village but there wasn't anything there. Where the village should have been it was empty. A huge open space but nothing, not a thing. Where on Earth had it gone?

Wednesday 8th December

Okay we have escaped from Carl twice, flown Dragons, been on trail and met some great people. However the one thing we cant do by the looks of it is read a map!!!. We have managed too get lost, not by a lot, only about 3 miles. I blame Tommy myself, whilst me and Jack was writing our names with yellow snow (ask your Mum and Dad, on second thoughts ask your Dad), Tommy held the map, and it appears that he had it  the wrong way round. After much arguing and finger pointing, we have found the right way and have now set off in the right direction and should finally get there later today.....we hope!

Thursday 9th December

Okay we found it and to be honest we weren't disappointed. Ive not got time too tell you all about it now though. You'll have too wait until next week. All I can say is WOW!!!.

Sammy The Elf Week 11

Hi there. What a week its been. There are lots of surprises in store so read on and enjoy it as I enter the final few weeks of my journey. Enjoy as always Love Sammy xx

Friday 26th November

Paul took the stand in a very grand way. He strode through the court room his back very straight. His head held high as if too show how important he was. The whole courtroom stopped and watched as he took his place on the stand. I watched nervously, not sure what to expect, but some how knowing that it wasn't going to be good whatever it was.
"Good Morning would you kindly state your name and occupation please?" Mr Johnson spoke from behind his desk he hadn't bothered too get to his feet yet.
"Yes of course. My name is Paul and I am or should that be was, the Kings Butler. A position I have held for over 20 years now" He stared straight ahead his bow tie glistening with the reflection of the light of the courtroom.
"Did you enjoy your work?" Mr Johnson rose from behind his desk and started too pace the room
"Of course. It was a great honour to work for the King and Queen"
"How well did you know the King?"
"As well as anyone in my position could I suppose" came the reply
"Would you say the King trusted you?"
"Of course I was his butler I knew everything that went on in the Palace it is my job to know things"
"Could you give me an example?"
"Well, I knew when the King was troubled, we often spoke of things that were worrying him"
"I see. Why did the King want too see Sammy and his friends?"
"He received a note saying that some visitors were due to arrive and that if he could be so kind as too make them welcome"
"Who was this letter from?" Mr Johnson turned and faced us now
"From someone called Frank I believe"
"Did you know who this Frank was?"
"I had heard his Majesty mention him before. It appears they had a friendship that went back many years."
"Had you met this Frank before?"
"No never"
"Why was that?"
"The King liked too keep some parts of his past life to himself. It was not my position too pry"
"What can you remember off the day the King was killed?"
"He seemed troubled by something. I asked him numerous times but he didn't wish too tell me. All he said was that he had to go away for a day or so and that there was a great threat to the Kingdom"
A gasp was heard around the courtroom as the people in the public gallery heard this. Id forgotten this was the first time they had heard about a threat to them and the King
"What happened on that fateful day?"
"I'm not too sure to be honest. The King left the Palace early in the morning before the Queen was awake. He told me to tell her that he wouldn't be back that day and for her not to worry"
"How did she react?"
"She was nervous but it wasn't the first time the king had left the Palace on a journey"
"What happened next?"
"The King didn't return that night, or the next day. I became worried and went too see Sammy and his friends as Sammy was at the Palace the day before the King left"
"Sammy was at the Palace?" Mr Johnson was standing in front of me now.
"Yes"
"Do you know what for?"
"No"
"Why not?"
"The King asked me to go and get him and when he arrived they went of to a room on their own for about 30 minutes then Sammy left"
"Do you know where he went?"
"No I do not"
"Very well then, what happened next?"
"Well like I said after the King didn't return for a few days I went round too Sammy's house too see if he knew where the King was."
"Did he?" ,Mr Johnson was now standing next to Paul in the witness box
"I arrived at Sammy's house but he seemed nervous when I asked him where the King was. I went back to the Palace and spoke to the Chief of Police about what I thought had happened"
"What was that?"
"That some how Sammy and played a part in the Kings disappearance"
"Objection" Mr McCoy rose too his feet "Your honour there is no evidence to suggest Sammy knew what the King had planned to do"
"Overruled. Your client met the King on the day he died did he not?. Please continue Mr Johnson."
"Thank you your honour. So Paul what happened after you spoke to the Chief of Police?"
"We decided too search the house the next day"
"What were you looking for?"
"Evidence"
"What kind of evidence?"
"Proof that Sammy knew what had happened to the King"
"Did you find such evidence?"
"Yes we did"
"Which was?"
"A gun under the one they call Sammy's bed"
Again gasps rang out around the courtroom.
"Thank you Paul that will be all"
"Mr McCoy in light of the evidence that has been given today I suggest we adjourn for the day. I'm sure the Queen has found all of this very upsetting as has everyone in the courtroom. This court is adjourned until Monday morning 9am" He banged his hammer on the desk, stood up and left the courtroom.
We were in real trouble now. Something wasn't right though I couldn't put my finger on it but there was something about Paul that didn't look right. Id speak too Frank later to see if I'm right.

Saturday 27th November

I didn't  sleep well at all last night I tossed and turned. I could hear Jack grinding his teeth in his sleep as if he was annoyed as much as I was. Tommy gently sobbed in his sleep as well and called his mums name a few times. I missed my parents as well. They would be worried sick if they knew the mess we were now in. This was going to take a hell of a lot of planning too get us out of it that was sure. The usual inedible food arrived and we sat there toying with it. None of us spoke at a great length there didn't seem much to say to be honest. Peter the large policeman came too see us later on to make sure we were okay. He was trying to be as kind as he could but I wasn't sure now he believed we were as innocent as we had protested. The evidence was pretty strong against us even I had too admit that. The fall of darkness brought some relief as this meant I could finally get some sleep, well I could try anyway.

Sunday 28th November

We were woken and taken to the room where we had met Frank and Mr McCoy last week. When we got there they were waiting for us once again. Frank gave us another huge hug. It felt good to be hugged again. It was comforting in the environment we found ourselves in.
"Sammy the letter that Frank gave you do you still have it?" Mr McCoy asked
"Not on me no, its in the house under the floorboards next to my bed, why?" I was a little puzzled by this but he must have had a reason too ask it.
"Okay Ill send someone too get it. Its vital that we have that letter when we go to court in the morning. That letter is going too prove your innocence in this case" He smiled as he said it.
I got angry I couldn't help it but I started too shout.
"If it is so important why are we in here? Why haven't you used the letter before? We have been in here for over a week now and you ask for it now! What are you playing at?"
"Sammy, Sammy calm down. I know you are annoyed but we couldn't use the letter before Friday. We had to be sure that when we used it, it was the right time. I'm sorry for what you are going through but this will all end tomorrow I promise you"
"You promise! You promise! Do you know what its like in here?" Tears started too flow from my eyes I couldn't hold them back any longer.
"Hey Sammy" Frank put his arm around me and pulled me closed too him. "Remember the conversations we had back at my farm?" There was a softness too his voice a sense that he was trying too calm me down.
"Yes" I mumbled
"Well I need you to be strong for one more day. I promise you this will end tomorrow and then you can continue on your journey. Trust me Sammy I have never lied to you yet have I?"
I shook my head.
"Good lad. Now then Mr McCoy and I will go and get that letter and we will meet you in court in the morning too end this once and for all" He smiled at me and I tried to smile back but this was getting harder and harder by the day. What was so important about this letter? Tomorrow I guess I would find out.

Monday 29th November

We sat next too Mr McCoy waiting for the judge too appear and start the trail once again. After Paul's evidence on Friday we were not in a good position, however I had too believe that Mr McCoy and Frank had a plan that would work in our favour. We all rose too our feet as the judge entered the courtroom. He sat in his big leather chair and looked around him. His eyes then turned to Mr McCoy and he began too speak.
"Are you ready to cross examine the witness Mr McCoy?"
"Yes your honour"
"Then please call Paul to the stand"
Paul made his way towards the stand as he had done the day before. Very straight backed and head held high as if he was above all of these proceeding's. Paul took his seat and Mr McCoy walked towards him.
"Paul, on Friday you said that you had worked for the King for over 20 years and that he trusted you more than anyone else, is that correct?"
"Yes"
"If he trusted you so much why didn't he tell you about meeting Sammy?"
"I don't know, he didn't tell me everything obviously"
"But you said he did, so which is it did he or didn't he?"
"He told me what he thought I need too know"
"What you needed to know, did that annoy you?"
"I'm sorry I don't understand the question"
"Let me rephrase then, did the fact that the King seems too favour Sammy over you bother you?"
"A little yes"
"A little? Enough too want to kill the King?"
There were gasps all around the courtroom at the suggestion from Mr McCoy. Mr Johnson leaped too his feet.
"Objection your honour, the witness is not on trail here."
"Sustained Mr Johnson. Mr McCoy its your client that is on trail not the witness"
"Your honour if you would allow me too approach the bench I have a piece of evidence that I think the court may find of interest"
"Very well approach"
"Thank you your honour" Mr McCoy stepped forward and handed the Judge the letter that Frank had given me weeks before. The Judge opened the letter and his eyes arched upwards, a look of total surprise spread across his face. He composed himself and beckoned Mr Johnson towards the bench as well. Handing him the letter to read as well. Mr Johnson looked at Mr McCoy then back at the judge. What on earth was in that letter!.
"You may continue with this line of questioning Mr McCoy. Any objections Mr Johnson?"
"No your honour I feel this line of questioning must be allowed too continue"
Something was going on but I wasn't sure what. I edged further on my seat to see what was going too happen next.
"Paul" Mr McCoy was now standing in front of him his arms placed on the witness box in front of him.
"Yes" Paul was looking a lot more nervous than he had done a few moments ago.
"Sammy didn't kill the King did he?"
"Of course he did we have the evidence"
"We have the evidence that you said was there, yet there are no fingerprints on the gun are there?. Why is that?"
"I don't know" Paul was beginning too shift in his seat now
"Oh I think you do. Sammy please bring me a glass of water please"
"Huh?"
"Come on Sammy its okay please bring me a glass of water now"
"Its okay Sammy Ill allow it" The Judge had a calmness in his voice as he poke so I did as I was asked and handed it too Mr McCoy
"Thank you Sammy please sit down again"
I did as I was told even more confused than ever now. I watched as Mr McCoy took a sip from the glass.
"Now then I shall ask you this one more time Paul. You killed the King didn't you"
"No I did not. Whats going on here this is a court of law you cant do this"
"Oh I think we can, cant we CARL" and with that Mr McCoy threw the water over Paul. Almost immediately the Penguin began too melt in front of my eyes. People screamed from the gallery and the Judge sat there in total silence. As he began too melt I could begin to make out the features of someone I knew, someone I recognised. Its cant be? Can it? Oh my god  ITS CARL!!!!!
"Arrest that man" cried the Judge.
Before anyone could move though Carl leaped from the witness box and made for the window. Jack and Tommy tried too grab him but weren't quick enough and with a huge crash he was gone through the window. Glass and window frame spraying the people around us.

Tuesday 30th November

I woke up the next morning pinching myself too make sure I wasn't dreaming. I wasn't and it hurt. I got up out of my bed and raced downstairs. The others were already up and sitting around the table eating as though they hadn't eaten before. A huge mound of eggs, bacon, sausages and toast were piled high in the middle of the table. Jack and Tommy were putting in as much as they could in their mouths at once.
"Morning Sammy" they both said at the same time through mouth fulls of food. It was good too see them happy again. Frank came in from the kitchen carrying another plate full of food.
"Hungry my boy?" He smiled as he said it.
"Yes please, but first I have some questions I need to ask"
"All in good time Sammy, but not today. You have had a very upsetting experience today you will eat and rest. Ill explain all too you tomorrow"
I knew better than to argue with Frank so I took the plate and sat down too eat with my friends, happy to be free once again.

Wednesday 1st December

After breakfast this morning Frank and I went for a walk. It was still cold outside and we wrapped up in warm coats. The snow crunched under our feet as we started too walk towards the town. I could see the lights shinning brightly and people were walking happily in the streets again. I was a little confused by this as even though we had been found not guilty, the King had still been killed. Surely they should have been more upset about this than they were.
"Frank"
"Yes Sammy"
"Why are the people happy?" I asked
"All in good time, we need too make our way to the Palace, someone there needs too see you" He looked straight ahead as he said it. I knew Frank well enough by now not to question him so I followed him through the mass of Penguins that went happily about their business until we reached the Palace. Frank knocked on the door and a young Penguin I hadn't seen before gestured us in and showed us to a side room. We waited there patiently for a few minutes not speaking. The door handle turned slowly and I watched as a Penguin entered the room. It cant be? Wow it is, then I fainted.
"Sammy, Sammy its okay honestly trust me its fine" I could hear Franks voice calling me and I slowly opened my eyes. I was laying on a coach in the room we had been waiting in. I looked around me and there he was, the King.
"Sammy I owe you a great deal, more than that though I owe you an explanation. Are you okay? I didn't mean too frighten you." There was real concern in his voice as he moved slowly towards me.
I sat up and felt a huge grin begin too spread across my face.
"I'm fine" I smiled "If a little shocked, I thought I had buried you on top of the mountain. If it wasn't you who was it?"
He sat down beside me and looked me straight in the eye.
"It was a very brave Penguin who I owe my life too. The person you found face down in the snow on the mountain was my best friend Paul" A tear appeared in the corner of his eye.
Of course, I remembered now, I hadn't seen his face, because I assumed it was the King I didn't even look properly.
"Why was Paul there and not you?" I asked.
"That Sammy is the story I now need too tell you" He took a deep breath and began. " Carl came to see me the day after you arrived. He threatened to poison all the sweets in the town that the children ate if I didn't hand you and your friends too him. Of course I refused such a wish and he swore revenge. Paul knew about all of this and he pretend to be me when he met Carl for the second time. He told him that he would meet Carl at the top of the mountain with you and your friends and hand you over. Of course this was never going to happen, and I'm sorry I put you in that danger and for all you have been through, but Frank told me that you would be able too handle it"
I looked at Frank who smiled back at me
"You have come a long way Sammy. When the King told me of his plans I asked too come here but he said that if Carl saw me he would know that we were up to something so he asked me too wait which I did"
I looked back at the King who was watching my face for any kind of reaction.
"The voices you heard on the mountain were Carl and Paul arguing. I hoped too arrive in time to arrest him but we were too late. After Carl had killed Paul it was agreed that I would go into hiding until it was safe for me to appear again. Frank was already on his way and Mr McCoy was convinced that he could win the case all he needed was too get Carl on the stand and show the judge the letter."
Ah the letter, that reminded me.
"What was in the letter?" I asked
"Ill let Frank explain that said the King
"The letter was from me saying that Carl was a master of disguise and that when the King invited you to dinner he had too invite the Dragons as well. They would be able too tell straight away if you were the real Sammy or not. Kai would have tipped the King off if you weren't"
Yes Kai my Dragon no wonder Frank had been so keen for us too take the Dragons he knew that Carl would try again and they were our security too make sure nothing happened too us.
"The Judge saw the letter from Frank and knew straight away that Paul was not who he said he was. Then it was up to Mr McCoy to use the water trick and the rest you know" The King finished and his head dropped a little.
"Whats wrong?" I asked
"Carl is still out there Sammy, the only place he has left now is to head to the North Pole and try and take over from Father Christmas. You have too stop him, its up to you now"
Wow! It all came down to this then. One more time I would have to do battle with Carl. I had too stop him before its too late.
"Of course I will" I said standing up. "Its the least I owe Paul"
"Excellent, but first please stay for dinner. There is something I want you to do for me as well if that's not too much to ask after all you have been through?"
"Anything for you your Majesty"
"Tomorrow I would like you to lead my people up to the mountain and show them where Paul is buried. I would like you to stay for his funeral and then be on your way"
"It would be an honour" We shook hands and left the room towards the sound of laughter and the smell of food. I looked out the window and saw Kai and the other Dragons waiting patiently for me outside. He nodded at me as our eyes met. We both knew what we had to do now.

Thursday 2nd December

Today was a very sad day. Myself and Kai flew up to the mountain top where we met the King and some of his guards. I'd asked the others if they wanted to come but they said no. This was something I had to do on my own. I showed them where Paul had been buried and once they had retrieved the body and took him back too the Palace, we said our goodbyes and left. The King told me that they were going too erect a statue in the town square in memory of the sacrifice that Paul had made. It seemed only right that he be remembered for the courage and bravery that he had shown in the way that he had protected the people of this town. The town he loved so much he made the ultimate sacrifice and paid with his life.
My thoughts turned to the final task that lay ahead of me. Stopping Carl from ruining Christmas. I had come so far, seen and experienced so many things, beyond my age, but I knew that this time I had too see this through to the end. Christmas was at stake after all. In the morning we would leave for Father Christmas's town and our final battle with Carl. A battle we had to win what ever the cost.
